WIP Wednesday – What’s Missing, continued

“What’s Missing?” Work In Progress by Helen E. H. Madden, 30 March 2011

I haven’t had much time to work on this lately, but I did spend half an hour on it today and got more color down on the background. I’m also playing a bit more with the palette knife, seeing how well it blends the oils together. That may become a key tool in getting this painting to work the way I want it to.

Anyway, I’m still working on this. Hopefully, I’ll get a little more time this week to paint some more.

  1. I envy your ability.

The local public radio station has a contest/request for a t-shirt design to promote one of their segments.

I can see in my head what would make a wonderful t-shirt design, but could never draw it to submit it. I can barely draw a straight line with a ruler!

  2. Paul,

People always say they can’t draw, and that amazes me. Drawing is a matter of practice for the most part, and a willingness to experiment. I’m working on a little project right now that I am deliberately being sloppy with. Not sloppy because I’m being lazy, but sloppy to just experiment with an artistic style. Trust me, there are no straight lines in this! I’ll hopefully have it finished next week, and then you can tell me if it looks any good or not 😉
